APC Chieftain: Tinubu derailing from original plan of ‘Renewed Hope’

The Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), North West, Salihu Lukman, says President Bola Tinubu started well in the first two weeks of his assumption of office.

Lukman, who spoke on Tuesday when he appeared as a guest on Channels Television on the programme, Sunrise Daily, said the tempo he started with dropped three weeks after he assumed office till date.

The APC stalwart noted that the government is becoming isolated, adding that isolated decisions are not good for the country.

He stated that during the campaign, their focus was on renewed hope, but regretted that things are becoming difficult for the people, which should be brought to the attention of the president.

“The first two weeks of the assumption of office of President Asiwaju, he started very well.

“His approval rating went very high. Everybody, all of us, became very confident that he was tackling the issues in the way they should be tackled.

“After two weeks, three weeks down the line, to this period, we have a drop in the tempo and in the momentum with which issues are being handled.

“And I think we need to return to that tempo of the first two weeks of the administration”, he added.

Lukeman, who said Tinubu clearly has a plan for the country, noted that the nomination process of the ministers-designate may have consumed the attention of the president and the people around him.

He said many of them are disappointed, saying, “this is not the Asiwaju we know.”

The APC leader, however, said it is not too late for the president to retrace his steps into the original plan.

He said they need to get the President back, saying he believes there was a plan from the onset.

He said, “Availing the government the opportunity of access by party leaders so that they can help make input.

“I think the government is increasingly becoming isolated and isolated decisions are being made and I think these are some of the major challenges.”

Lukman had resigned as the Deputy National Chairman of the APC, North West, but the party refused to accept his resignation.
