APC candidate unveils foundation, tasks Lagos residents on healthy living

Mrs Kafilat Ogbara, 2023 APC  House of Representatives Candidate, Kosofe Federal Constituency, has advised residents  of Lagos State  to make healthy living their primary goal.

Ogbara gave the advise at a free medical outreach and the unveiling of the Kafilat Ogbara Foundation in Lagos.

”I”m very happy because this is a way of touching the lives of our people. Health is not just wealth, health is life; health is paramount in everything we do.

”This is not just a free medical outreach programme, I’m using this platform to unveil the ‘Kafilat Ogbara Foundation’ so that it will be a continuous process.

”The aim is to help to improve the health of our people,”  she said..

She also lauded Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state for improving the healthcare services, adding that her free medical programme would help complement the governor’s efforts in the state.

”We want our people to feel government presence with the agenda of  Sanwo-Olu because he believes a lot in the health of our people,  and he has done so much in terms of upgrading our healthcare facilities,” she said.

Also, Prof. Akin Abayomi, the state Commissioner for Health, who represented the governor at the event, urged the people of the state to access ‘ILERA EKO’, a Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme.

Sanwo-Olu said that ‘Ilera Eko’, in accordance with the new National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), mandated all Nigerians to have a state health insurance scheme, as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

”You can access free healthcare services at any of our general hospitals or our primary health care facilities but you can’t access it until you are registered with Ilera Eko.

”The scheme is at the rate of N8500 per annum, and N700 per month so that as many residents  as possible will have access to affordable healthcare,”  he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Christiana Kuboye, expressed  gladness for receiving free screening and medications with her baby.

Another beneficiary, Mr Gidado Aila, who had a partial stroke condition, commended the APC candidate for her kind gesture to the less privileged in the area.

According to reports, the beneficiaries received free screenings and medications for blood pressure, sugar level and eye problems among others.

300 health insurance covers were also donated by the chairmen of the three LCDAs and local government under Kosofe to beneficiaries.
