Anambra Central: As Ekwunife Goes For Broke

By Uchenna Emeka

There is no disputing the fact that Chief Victor Umeh is the man to beat in the 2023 Anambra Central Senatorial Election given his political antecedents, achievements as a one-time senator, gift of the gab, and pro-Igbo disposition. His possession of the aforementioned qualities have endeared him to the people. Little wonder, he is popular with the people, who are the ultimate possessors of political sovereignty in our society.

So it is obvious to us that other top contenders for the Anambra Central Senatorial Seat, namely Dozie Nwankwo and Uche Ekwunife, cannot hold a candle to Chief Umeh, as to politicking. And based on political calculations, permutations, analysis, and prognosis by political cognoscenti, neither Dozie Nwankwo nor Uche Ekwunife can win the Anambra Central Senatorial Election if the election is free and fair.

So knowing that she is heading for an electoral disaster, which will send her to political Siberia, Uche Ekwunife is employing every trick in her bag to rattle and stop Chief Victor Umeh from going to the Senate. Her political trickery and antics which she has deployed against Chief Victor Umeh, are red herrings designed to cause huge distractions for Chief Umeh.

Ekwunife’s resort to electoral litigation, which brought about the disqualification of Chief Umeh by a High Court, is a temporary victory for her, which will be invalidated and quashed by the Appeal Court.

So, Chief Umeh is not despairing over the Kangaroo judgement that disqualified him from contesting in the Anambra Central Senatorial Election because he is aware that the basis of the judgement is severely flawed. Can any house, which has no strong foundation, withstand the turbulence of the elements? The answer to this question is a categorical no.

The fact is that Uche Ekwunife, a desperate politician, who is aware that she is headed for political wilderness, has gone for broke. She is a woman caught in a thicket, and thrashing about it to free herself from the entanglement so as to reach her destination.

That’s why Chief Victor Umeh and his team of innumerable supporters are not despairing. They have not given up hope that Chief Victor Umeh will triumph over the legal hurdle placed on his path. And they are certain that victory will be theirs at the long last.

It is still morning on the creation day.
