Zamfara tribunal judgement: Brigade commander orders troops to deal with troublemakers

The Commander, 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, has ordered troops to deal decisively troublemakers in Zamfara State.

The order followed reports of possible disturbances in Gusau, the state capital, over the judgement of the
Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

Brigadier General Ahmed warned that those who intend to foment trouble over the tribunal’s judgement should leave the state or face the consequences of their actions.

This was contained in a press statement issued to newsmen in Gusau, the State capital by the Acting Assistant Director, Captain Yahaya Ibrahim.

“The Commander calls on the good people of the state to go about their legitimate endeavours as adequate security measures have been provided in all flash points, bad spots and strategic places in Gusau.

“He urged the people to immediately report any suspicious gathering and act of violence in their respective places to the security agencies.

“He assured the people that troops of 1 Brigade, Nigerian Air force, the Police, Department State Services and all other security agencies within the Area of responsibility taking part in the show of force are ready to protect lives and properties in the state, adding that the forces would protect everywhere including Gusau, the State capital,” the statement said.

The Commander disclosed that similar shows of force would be carried out simultaneously in all the local government areas in the state to build the confidence of the populace and make the environment safe and secure before, during and after the tribunal’s judgement.
