Zamfara police confirms killing of DCO by bandits

Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed that a group of armed men suspected to be bandits, wielding sophisticated weapons, attacked the Zurmi division at Nasarawa Area of Zurmi Local Government Area.

It said that the policemen on duty retaliated and repelled the attack after a serious gun duel in which many of the bandits were killed and some took to their heels with possible gunshot wounds.

In a statement issued by the Spokesman of the Command, ASP Yazeed Abubakar, he said the Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Shitu Musa paid the supreme prize as he died on the spot, while two other police officers suffered gunshot wounds.

“While the bandits were retreating, they burnt down some houses and shops in the same area.

“Therefore, the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara Command, MD Shehu Dalijan has deployed adequate manpower to the area while reassuring all people of the state that the command under his leadership will continue to do its best in protecting lives and properties,” he added.
