Zamfara NUJ cautions members on ethical reportage during elections 

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zamfara State Council has appealed to members to always obey the ethics guiding the profession in their reportage before, during and after the upcoming elections.

The charge was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Council, Ibrahim Musa Maizare and Ibrahim Ahmad Gada.

The statement said, “The union’s members are charged to be just and fair to all political parties in the state and country at large and also advised politicians to consider journalists as their partners in progress, in the effort of ensuring good democracy and in according to the international best practice in Zamfara State and Nigeria in general”

“The members of the pen profession are also encouraged to always be factual on reporting activities of any political party, as the union vowed not to support any personal bias, malicious, fabricated, or misinformation from its members”

“We have also advised politicians to give maximum support and cooperation to our members for them to discharge their primary assignment effectively”

“the union assures of its support and assistance to its members in the course of discharging their constitutional mandates before, during and after the elections”

“As we do this, we are also seeking for the divine intervention in the lingering insecurity that crippled and jeopardised all sectors of human endeavours in Zamfara and country at large”
