You’ve to respect legal process – La Liga President Tebas on extending Greenwood’s stay in Spain

Javier Tebas, the president of Spanish La Liga, has expressed a desire to extend Manchester United player, Mason Greenwood’s stay in Spain beyond his current loan spell at Getafe.

The Spanish football official also dismissed any legal concerns surrounding Greenwood.

Tebas, who is also a lawyer, emphasised that he respected legal procedures and that Greenwood should be judged on his clearance of his legal case.

Greenwood has been on loan at Getafe since January 2023 after he was cleared of assault accusations by his partner.

“I am a lawyer,” Tebas said (via the BBC).

“If someone came out of a legal case innocent there is nothing else to say. He is doing really well as a player and I hope he continues to stay in Spanish football. That is good for us.

“You should respect the legal process. People might be condemning him in the press but you have to respect the legal decision. There is nothing else to talk about.”
