Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville has said he has been ‘shocked’ by how good Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has performed since signing for the club.
The England goalkeeper moved to Arsenal in 2021 for £25million after he was relegated with first, Sheffield United and then Bournemouth.
While at those clubs, Ramsdale conceded a whopping 130 goals in 77 games but was still well-regarded for his distribution.
Arsenal were heavily criticised for replacing Bernd Leno with Ramsdale in goal but that was Mikel Arteta’s choice.
But the 24-year-old is now a key player for Arsenal, conceding just 31 goals in as many games in the league and has 12 clean sheets.
“He’s shocked me. I thought that was an incredible signing, to lose Leno and to lose [Emiliano] Martinez obviously to [Aston] Villa,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“I’m stunned by the way in which [he’s playing], he’s now pushing Jordan Pickford [for the England No.1 spot] I would imagine very close.”
