Youth Congress Rallies Behind Minister Olawande Over ‘City Boys’ Links

The Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) has rallied behind Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, following criticism from some bloggers over his association with a political group known as “City Boys”. The NYC condemned the attacks as “smear campaigns” aimed at derailing Olawande’s efforts to implement youth-centered policies.

In a statement signed by NYC national publicity Secretary, Comrade Aniekan Etim, the NYC praised Olawande’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youths and warned that efforts to undermine his mission would be met with resistance. “We won’t let toxic politics distract him from his vision,” the group said.

The controversy centers on Olawande’s alleged ties to the “City Boys,” a group widely perceived as influential in Nigerian politics. Critics have accused the minister of neglecting his official duties in favor of the network, sparking heated public debate over his involvement.

The NYC has pledged unconditional support for Olawande, citing satisfaction with his progress.
