Ogun State’s new Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has read the riot act to landgrabbers, warning them to quit or face dire consequences.
Alamutu, who assumed office at the State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, warned that Ogun, under his watch, “will no longer be a haven” for criminal elements masquerading as landgrabbers.
Responding to questions on the atrocities of the land grabbers, Alamutu vowed to summon them and advise them to look for another job.
The CP declared that all the individuals behind land grabbing in the state “are not more than five to ten.”
He said: “I have been part of the system for a long time. Sincerely, those who are behind all these issues (of land grabbing) are not more than five to ten in the state.
“The moment I settle down, I will summon all of them and let them understand that the game is over. I know their tricks, and it will not work while I am here.”
He added: “I will first have an engagement with them and advise them to look for another job. They know me, I know them, and I know their tricks. So, we will sort it by God’s Grace.”
The new CP also implored officers of the command to respect the rights of citizens while carrying out their duties in the state.
“Let me also mention here that inasmuch as I will not condone in any way any act of injustice or abuse of rights of the members of the public by my officers, I will not equally tolerate any unwarranted affront or physical attack whatsoever against my officers in the course of their lawful duties by any member of the public under any guise whatsoever. I will ensure such cases are followed up in accordance with extant laws,” he said.
