Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved the appointment of Hon. Ismaila Ahmed Gadaka as the new Emir of Gudi (Mai Gudi) following the passing of the late Emir, Alhaji Isa Bunuwa Madugu Ibn Kaji.
The appointment was contained in a statement signed by Shuaibu Abdullahi, media aid to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
He said the new traditional ruler, His Royal Highness, Hon. Alhaji Ismaila Ahmed Gadaka, has a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors.
The statement said between 2011 and 2019, the newly appointed Emir represented Fika/Fune Federal Constituency of Yobe in the House of Representatives.
Between 2007 and 2010, he served as Commissioner in the Yobe State Government .
“A seasoned banker by profession, the new Mai Gudi had an illustrious career with UBA and Standard Trust Bank, where he rose to the position of Business Manager.”
His administrative and leadership credentials were further solidified through his current roles as Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Yawuri, Kebbi State, and Chairman of the Yobe State Local Government Project Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, both of which he has held since 2024.
“Until his appointment as the new Mai Gudi, he held the traditional title of Yariman Gudi, symbolizing his deep-rooted connection to the Gudi Emirate and its cultural heritage.
“Governor Buni, while approving the appointment, expressed confidence in the capacity of the new Emir to uphold the values of the Gudi Emirate and contribute meaningfully to the continued peace, unity, and development of Yobe State,” the statement read.
