Yahaya Bello released from Kuje prison after meeting bail conditions

Immediate-past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has been released from Kuje Prison after meeting bail conditions imposed on him by set the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja

According to news report this was confirmed by the spokesperson for the Nigerian Correctional Service, FCT Command, Adamu Duza, on Friday evening, December 20, 2024.

Duza said, “Yahaya Bello has been released after meeting the bail conditions. He was released this evening (Friday).”

“The Controller of NCoS FCT, Ajibogun Olatubosun, was on the ground to ensure his smooth release and that all protocols were observed.”

Bello was granted bail on Thursday in the sum of N500m by Justice MaryAnne Anenih before whom he is being prosecuted for an alleged N110bn fraud.

Justice Anenih had earlier on December 10 refused to grant the bail application filed by Bello as she ruled that it was premature and incompetent as he filed it when he had not yet surrendered himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Also, on December 13, Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja, before whom Bello is standing trial for another case of about N80.2 billion fraud, also granted him a N500 million bail.
