Xavi: Why Rayo Vallecano beat Barcelona

Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandez has explained why Rayo Vallecano defeated his team 2-1 in a La Liga tie on Wednesday.

Goals from Alvaro Garcia and Fran Garcia ensured Rayo Vallecano defeated Barcelona, as Robert Lewandowski’s goal was not enough to give Xavi’s side a point against the host.

Speaking after the match (via Marca), Xavi said that Vallecano defeated Barcelona because his team did not play a good game and was not comfortable during the encounter.

Xavi said, “We didn’t play a good game, we were not comfortable at any time. We were penalised a lot for the second goal, but we did try until the end.

“We have had faith and courage, but Rayo were just victorious. They put a lot of pressure on us and we have not felt comfortable at any time. It is a defeat that annoys us.”

Barcelona’s next game is against Real Betis on Saturday evening.
