Wike arrives Dubai for 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit, Mayors’ Forum

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), to attend the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum (2025APCS).

Wike, who departed Abuja on Sunday, arrived in Dubai at about 4 a.m. on Monday.

He was received at the airport by Nigeria’s Consul General in Dubai, Ambassador Zayyanu Ibrahim, alongside officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) who had arrived earlier for the event.

Those who received him included the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda; the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Legal and Multilateral Cooperation, Benedict Daudu; Director of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima; Director of Engineering Services, Engr. Chuks Udeh; and the Director of Protocol, Sani Musa Daura.

In a statement issued in Dubai on Monday, the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said Wike would on Tuesday lead a discussion panel where he is expected to field questions about the Federal Capital Territory and share insights on urban development.

According to Olayinka, the summit will also provide an opportunity for the FCT Minister to interact with mayors and city leaders from across the world.

“The Minister will be participating in a high-level panel session, where he will highlight Abuja’s developmental strides and exchange ideas with other city leaders on sustainable urban growth,” Olayinka said.

He added that the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum is a global platform that promotes collaboration among cities, governments, and businesses seeking trade and investment opportunities across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.
