Why we chose Emana as running mate to Onor for governorship – PDP, Cross River

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Cross River State, Venatius Ikem has given reasons why the party chose Emana Duke Ambrose-Amawhe as deputy governorship running mate for the party.

He disclosed that although he came to know her recently, he had studied her closely and is convinced of her qualities and capabilities.

He made this disclosure when he spoke about the former broadcaster, who is an Efik princess and why they settled for her to pair with Senator Sandy Onor, representing Cross River Central senatorial district in the senate.

Ikem said Emana who is married with four children, may not have been quite known in the political arrangements in the state yet she aspired and got the party’s ticket to run for the Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South federal constituency election which she narrowly lost to veteran Essien Ayi who has occupied the seat since 1999.

“I came to know this media consultant, intellectual and affable lady some ten months ago.

“Within this period, we have studied and got convinced about her qualities and know that she has the political capacity to wean the women folk and the youths because she is actually the bridge to the two most important groups in the party.”

The party chairman expressed the belief that the running mate, being a princess will bring her motherly disposition to bear in governance.

He appealed to party leaders and members, who may still harbour reservations about Emana, to have a change of mind and work for the victory of the PDP in the 2023 polls.
