WFGG Rates Abang High, Vows Massive Re-election Support

The Watchdog for Good Governance, WFGG, has rated the member representing Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Victor Abang Bisong, Ph.D, as the best performing federal lawmaker from Cross River State.

The group also pledged to mobilise massively for Abang’s re-election, saying his performance in the constituency deserves renewed support.

Speaking on the assessment, the group’s spokesman, Comrade Justine Agbor, said the rating was based on Abang’s 2026 scorecard, verified constituency projects and interventions across the 22 wards of Ikom and Boki Local Government Areas.

Agbor said the interventions covered education, roads, healthcare, water supply, electricity, telecommunications, agriculture, sports and human capital development.

In education, WFGG cited the renovation of more than 12 primary schools and construction of classroom blocks at Etikpe, Alesi, Bekpor Irruan, Lutheran Primary School in Panya and Ubong. It also listed the construction and equipping of a secondary school facility at Etikpe, Ikom.

The group said Abang facilitated several road projects, including the Kakwagom, Oki, Borum and Njua Kaku corridor, Katchuan, Bitia, Kakwagom, Nkayang and Kakubok Irruan Road, as well as the Ntamante, Batang and Agba Road.

It also cited interventions on the Biajua, Danare, Ekumba Hill, Arongba, Osokom Farm, Abo Emeh and Agbokim, Mgbabor roads, alongside advocacy for the Ikom, Obudu Federal Highway.

On telecommunications, WFGG said between 32 and 35 rural communities had regained network connectivity, with at least 25 of the interventions independently verified.

According to the group, healthcare interventions included medical equipment for Abo Ebam Health Centre, medical outreach in Nde, rehabilitation of boreholes and health facilities, solar power support, advocacy for a Federal Medical Centre in Boki and efforts towards completing the NDDC Specialist Hospital in Ikom.

Other projects cited include solar powered water schemes, streetlights, transformers, agricultural inputs, sports facilities, markets, town halls and tourism infrastructure.

The group further claimed that more than 4,000 constituents had benefited from human capital programmes, including grants, educational support, skills training, disability empowerment initiatives, women and youth programmes and motorcycle distribution.

On legislation, WFGG said Abang had sponsored or pursued bills seeking the establishment of a Federal College of Agriculture and Forestry in Okundi, Federal Medical Centre in Boki, Federal College of Education (Technical) in Ikom and an Okwangwo National Park Unit.

The group also cited motions on the Nigeria Cameroon boundary, alleged incursions into Okwa, elephant attacks in eastern Boki, dredging of the Calabar Seaport and the Odukpani Junction, Ikot Ekpene Road.

Agbor said the assessment reflected what he described as Abang’s sustained focus on constituency development, adding that several projects had appeared in successive federal budgets and received confirmation from stakeholders.

He said the group had concluded plans for a massive mobilisation of voters for Abang’s re-election, declaring that “second term is not negotiable.”
