We’ll give him time – Potter reacts to Chelsea’s newest signing

Chelsea boss, Graham Potter, has finally spoken about the club’s newest signing, David Datro Fofana.

Chelsea confirmed on 28 December that the west London club had reached a pre-agreement with Molde FK for Fofana’s permanent transfer and that the youngster would join the Blues in January.

Fofana was in the stands during Chelsea’s New Year’s Day 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League tie with Manchester City on Thursday night, Potter said at his pre-match press conference that the 20-year-old is already at Stamford Bridge but needs to complete his clearances for him to play for the club.

The Englishman also said that Chelsea would give Fofana time to train in order to get the best solution for his next career step.

“He’s here at the moment, but we still need to wait for the clearances and all those formalities,” Potter said.

“He’s been on a bit of a break, so we will give him some time to train and assess him, then find out the best solution in terms of how to take the next step of his career.”

“He’s an exciting player, so we are open-minded about it.”
