Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye opens up after being sacked by Tinubu as minister of women affairs, says ‘I will always serve my nation’

Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, former minister of women affairs, has spoken opn her removal from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, saying she will always serve her nation.

Recall that on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the president sacked six ministers from his cabinet.

Among the dismissed are Kennedy-Ohanenye; Lola Ade-John, the minister of tourism; and Jamila Bio Ibrahim, minister of youth development.

Tahir Mamman was also relieved of his duty as the minister of education, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo was let go as minister of state, housing and urban
development and the suspended minister of humanitarian affairs, Betta Edu was officially sacked as well.

Tinubu also appointed seven new ministers and assigned portfolios to them, subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Ohanenye, in a short statement she titled ‘Letter of Appreciation’ on Thursday morning, less than 24 hours after she was sacked, expressed her gratitude to the President and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the country.

She added that it has been an honour and privilege to contribute to the development of Nigeria.

“I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for her invaluable guidance and support during my tenure as Minister of Women Affairs,” the statement reads.

“Her kindness and encouragement have been instrumental to my success.”

Ohanenye, a former presidential candidate on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC promised to continue to serve the country and contribute to its growth and progress.

“To the people of Nigeria, I am deeply grateful for your unwavering support. Your trust and confidence in me have been a constant source of inspiration.

“I remain committed to serving my country and will continue to do my utmost to contribute to its progress and prosperity.”
