Troops rescue victims, arrest kidnap suspects in Taraba

Troops of the 6 Brigade Garrison, Nigerian Army, have apprehended two suspected kidnappers in Taraba State.

They also rescued two kidnap victims at the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, area in Jalingo, the State capital.

This was confirmed in a statement on Monday by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Frank Etim.

According to him, the operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday following credible information about terrorists’ activities in the state metropolis.

“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops conducted a raid on the terrorists’ hideout, leading to the capture of Mr. Awwal Bobo, 32, and Mr. Sallau Abdul, 33.

“The rescued victims, identified as Mrs. Fauziyya Yusuf and Mr. Abdulsallam Abubakar were safely extricated from the clutches of their captors,” he said.

He stated that other suspects managed to escape upon sighting the advancing troops, adding that “efforts are underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing criminals.”
