Troops neutralise 6 bandits, recover 40 police, military uniforms in Kaduna

The 1 Division Nigerian Army says its troops have neutralized six suspected bandits in the Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

This was said in a statement released on Thursday in Kaduna by Lt-Col. Musa Yahaya, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the Division.

Yahaya reported that the operation took place on November 16 and that nine motorcycles and 40 pairs of police and military uniforms were found.

He stated that 1 Division troops and Operation Whirl Punch attacked the bandits after reliable intelligence.

“The highly motivated troops carried out an offensive clearance operation to bandits’ strongholds in Sabon-Birni, Dogon Dawa, Saulawa, Maidaro-Ngede Allah, and Kidenda, all in Birnin Gwari LGA.

“In the firefight that ensued when contact was made, troops neutralized six bandits, recovered two AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 rifle magazines, 14 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 40 pairs of bandits uniforms, and nine motorcycles,” he said.

Yahaya stated that Maj.-Gen. Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding of 1 Division and the Force Commander of Operation Whirl Punch commended the soldiers for their valour.

He tasked them to hold firm until all terrorists, bandits, and other lawbreakers within the division’s purview were eliminated.
