Three killed as Bauchi police comb bandits’ hideouts

The Bauchi State Police Command says its operatives have killed two suspected bandits terrorizing Ningi Local Government Area and an informant during a raid on their hideouts.

Report has it that there have been incessant kidnappings in Ningi LGA while insecurity has persisted, especially among peasant farmers who are now afraid of going to their farms.

The newly posted Commissioner of Police in the state, Auwal Musa Muhammad gave the update during the questions and answers segment of his maiden press briefing, held at the Police headquarters in the state on Monday.

Musa said security personnel have been mobilized to affected communities while the Police continue to remain on alert.

He, however, did not disclose when the operation took place and the number of others arrested.

In his words “I’m very much aware that an arrest has been made, and the Joint Task Force that is being supported by the state government killed two of the bandits and they were able to get about 2 informants while one was unfortunately killed as well.” he said

Speaking on the notorious Sara-Suka group who have also been terrorizing residents in the state, the CP said all hands are on deck to curtail their nefarious activities.

Earlier at the press briefing, Muhammad promised that “the Police shall continue to maintain and strengthen collaborative partnership with all sister security agencies and community stakeholders to ensure community security and to proactively deal with emerging security threats to the state.”

He added that the Police will collaborate with the judiciary, as well as the ministry of justice with the view to facilitate proper prosecution of all criminal cases.
