‘These boys saved me, I don’t care’ – Ola Aina on penalty miss against South Africa

Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina has reacted to his penalty shootout miss against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semi-final of the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to report, Nigeria defeated South Africa 4-2 via penalty shootout on Wednesday night to qualify for the AFCON finals.

The semi-final match had ended in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.

Aina missed his spot-kick during the shootout as the Nottingham Forest player kicked the ball over the bar.

However, Stanley Nwabali made two saves to ensure Jose Peseiro’s men qualified for the final.

The likes of Terem Moffi, Kenneth Omeruo, William Troost-Ekong and kelechi iIheanacho all scored their penalties.

Reacting, the former Chelsea player, in a video posted on social media after the game said, “these boys saved me. I don’t care.”

The Super Eagles will now face Ivory Coast in the AFCON final on Sunday.
