The tactics we used to defeat Man Utd, Chelsea didn’t work against Arsenal – Frank

Brentford manager, Thomas Frank changed things tactically for Arsenal’s visit on Sunday.

Frank moved away from the 4-3-3 that was so successful in the win over Leeds United, to a 3-5-2.

But the switch backfired as Mikel Arteta’s men dominated the midfield, while Brentford’s front two of Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo ended up doing more work in their own half than in the opponent’s.

After the match, when asked whether the change to 3-5-2 from 4-3-3 contributed to the defeat, he replied kindly: “No.

“I can say that we beat Manchester United 4-0 with 3-5-2, we went to Stamford Bridge [last season] and beat them with 3-5-2 so I guess that’s okay.”

Brentford, who have scored five goals in their last home fixture, could only muster two shots on target against the Gunners.
