That’s what people will remember about you – Hasselbaink cautions Gabriel Jesus

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has told Arsenal striker, Gabriel Jesus that scoring goals for the club is the only thing people will remember about him at the end of the season.

He stated this while explaining a key difference between Jesus’ performances in their 3-1 defeat to Manchester United on September 4 and 3-0 victory against Brentford on Sunday.

The former Chelsea striker insists that the Brazilian must focus on scoring goals, reminding him that that was the reason he was brought in from Manchester City in the first place.

Arsenal were beaten 3-1 by United at Old Trafford earlier this month but returned to winning ways with a thumping 3-0 victory over Brentford on Sunday.

Jesud could not score against Man United and Hasselbaink feels that is because the striker was also dropping into midfield too much.

“He’s a number nine,” Hasselbaink told Sky Sports. If I’m number nine, I want players to create from here and there, I can give you a ball and shape you up.

“He’s come to Arsenal to score goals. He can drop in at times in the midfield but he needs to arrange in the box.

“Last week he wasn’t going into the box, now he’s in the box making the difference and that’s what people will remember him for the end of the season.”

Arsenal go into the international break still top of the table and will hope their players do not get injured as they represent their countries.

But the good news for Arteta is that his Brazilian trio of Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel will not travel during the break.

The Brazilians were snubbed by their national team handlers for their international friendly games against Ghana and Tunisia.
