Terrorists Kill 5 Soldiers in Fresh Attack, DHQ Confirms

Five soldiers have been killed in a fresh attack by the members of the Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist group, the Defence Headquarters has said.

The Director of Defence for Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, while confirming the attack said the troops who paid the ultimate price were deployed at a stablisation operation pro-force and defence site located in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, November 19, Buba noted that during the attack, which was coordinated, ten soldiers were wounded while four a still missing.

He said the troops eliminated several members of the terrorist group and recovered weapons.

His words, “The coordinated attack saw five killed in action soldiers, 10 wounded, and four missing in action, while troops eliminated several terrorists, as well as recovered weapons.”

Buba further stated that a gun truck, three TCVs and one excavator belonging to the Nigerian Military were destroyed and burnt by the terrorists.

He said,“Subsequently, a reinforcement team with an air component was dispatched to exploit the general area and the terrorists’ withdrawal route.

“However, it is pertinent to note that such an attack shall not deter the troops and armed forces of Nigeria from seeing the end of terrorism, insurgency, and other insecurity challenges facing the country,” Buba noted.
