Telecoms Tariff Increase: NLC Declares National Strike On March 1

Nigerians have been urged to join an industrial strike action slated to hold on March 1, over the hike in price of telecommunications tarrif.

The strike action was announced by the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) on Thursday, February 13.

The Central Working Committee (CWC) of the NLC after a meeting in Lokoja, Kogi State said the strike action would begin should the telecommunication companies fail to revert to the previous tariff structure.

The decision by NLC followed the recent 50 per cent hike in telecom charges.

The NLC said, “If telecom operators fail to reverse the tariff to the old rate by the end of February, we will embark on a total shutdown of their operations nationwide from March 1, 2025.”
