Israeli warplanes conducted an aerial attack early on Friday
on several locations south of the Syrian capital, causing material damage, the Syrian Defence Ministry said in a statement.
The Syrian air defence systems swiftly sprang into action, intercepting some of the missiles and preventing further damage.
According to the statement, the attack was launched from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses told Xinhua the attack took place south of Damascus near the capital’s international airport.
This incident marked another chapter in the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran on Syrian soil
as Israel has intensified its targeting of Iranian assets and military bases in Syria.
