An explosion has rocked Jalingo, after a passerby suspected to be a terrorist threw a bomb into a military base in the Taraba State capital.

Reports say that the explosion occurred at about 9pm yesterday, Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

“Preliminary reports have it that the explosive device was thrown into the military base along the House of Assembly-Sabon Gari road by a passerby through the fence,” according to a Daily Sun report.

The number of casualties could not be immediately ascertained.

Another report on the incident by DAILY POST quotes the state police command as confirming the report through its Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Usman Abdullahi. It quoted the PPRO as saying that he heard the sound and that he had confirmed that it was an explosion, but could not ascertain if anyone died.

“He, however, promised to furnish our reporter with detailed information as soon as they are made available to the command.

“The explosion, as observed by our correspondent, is the third of its kind in the state within the space of one,” DAILY POST further says in its report of the incident.
