“Stop forced evictions in FCT, respect human dignity” – Amnesty International tells Tinubu

Amnesty International has called on President Bola Tinubu to halt the “ruthless” forced evictions in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

FCT minister, Nyesom Wike recently ordered the demolition of some structures in the Nigerian capital, with security operatives forcefully ejecting occupants.

Reacting to the situation, the global organisation stated that forced evictions by the FCT administration violate human rights.

“Amnesty International urges President Bola Tinubu to end the ruthless forced evictions carried out by the authorities of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and provide support to communities rendered homeless.

“Forced evictions are unlawful and degrade human dignity,” the organisation wrote on social media.
