Stop blaming Tinubu over defections, APC chieftain tells opposition parties

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon.Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged opposition parties to stop blaming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the defection of their members to the ruling party.

Oyintiloye, member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in the 2023 general elections made the call while speaking with newsmen yesterday in Osogbo.

The former lawmaker said rather than blaming the president, leaders of the opposition parties should work hard to address their internal crises.

The APC chieftain, who said political realignment is not a new phenomenon in Nigeria, stressed that the recent wave of defections was due to ideological persuasion and not any form of coercion as being speculated in some quarters.

“So many defectors claimed that they were sidelined, undermined, unfairly treated by their former parties, leaving them with no option but to switch to a party with sustainable transformation agenda,” he said.
