Soldier Stabs a Mechanic to Death In Abuja

A yet-to-be identified soldier has allegedly stabbed a mechanic to death at Kugbo mechanic village, located along the Keffi-Abuja expressway.

The mechanic was reportedly stabbed by the soldier on Thursday during an argument, after which he fled the scene.

A mechanic in the area, Yusuf Mustapha, told reporters via telephone that the incident sparked a crisis in the area, which led to mechanics and spare parts sellers shutting their shops.

Mustapha said: “The soldier came with his mechanic to buy car parts at the market on Thursday. During the process, an argument ensued between him and one of the mechanics at the market. The soldier used an object to hit the mechanic on his head.

“The soldier thereafter brought out a knife. Another mechanic tried to stop him from using it to fight. He then grabbed the mechanic and stabbed him to death. Seeing what he had done, he fled. They are currently looking for him.”

The army authorities are yet to react to the development which comes weeks after a major business place in Abuja was shut for weeks over the assault of soldiers.
