Slain LP supporter, Maduekwe buried amid tears – GRV

Mr Simon Maduekwe, 68, a slain supporter of the Labour Party in the February 18th governorship election in Lagos, has been laid to rest, according to Gbedebo Rhodes-Vivour, the party’s governorship aspirant in the State.

Recall that Maduekwe was a victim of electoral violence.

Thugs reportedly loyal to the All Progressives Congress, APC, allegedly attacked Maduekwe, leading to his death.

In a Twitter post on Thursday by Rhodes-Vivour, Maduekwe was killed right in front of his house at the Bajulaye compound in Somolu.

“Today, we lay to rest Mr Maduekwe, who died on the 18th March 2023, right in front of his house at the Bajulaye compound Somolu when armed APC thugs assaulted him with fatal damage to the back of his head. He was rushed to Oguntolu Medical Center, where he was confirmed dead.

“Until his death, he was a staunch member of LP, who believed that a new Nigeria was possible.

“The Labour Party has come together to support his family and will continue to do so. May his fearless soul rest in perfect peace”, he wrote.

Though Babajide Sanwo-Olu won the 18th March election, reports of electoral violence were rampant during the polls.
