Six Shot Dead Following Gunmen Attack In Benue

Gunmen have reportedly killed six people in an attack on three locations, including a market in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
Witnesses told our correspondent in Makurdi that the incident happened on Tuesday.

The gunmen reportedly stormed the locations on bikes.
One of the witnesses who did not want his name in print, said the gunmen launched the attacks in Tor Donga in Utange council ward, Gugu in Michihe council ward and another place in Mbacher council ward.

Jonathan Agbidye, lawmaker representing Katsina-Ala East constituency at the Benue State House of Assembly, told journalists in Makurdi that the unfortunate incident appeared to be a reprisal.

The lawmaker said, “Those people in that particular community were against the hoodlums; luck ran out of them and they got hold of two of them in April and killed them. So this is just a revenge mission.

But the place is calm now. We went there with the police this morning.”
Contacted, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP. Catherine Anene, however, said she was not aware of the incident.
