Shekarau Dumps NNPP, Joins PDP

Senator Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano State on Monday Dumps the NNPP for PDP after communicating his resolve to his former Party’s leadership.

Shekarau who Joins PDP with his numerous followers pledge full support to the People Democratic Party that they will do all their best to ensure the party wins the presidential election and other elective positions.

“Let it be on record that I Ibrahim Shekarau and my numerous followers have today dump the NNPP and join the PDP.

I have written to the national chairman of the NNPP, INEC Chairman, Ward and Local Government Chairman as well as every other person who must know that I have relinquished my Kano Senatorial candidacy in the forthcoming 2023 election.

I have seized henceforth to be a member of the NNPP”.

According to him, his political philosophy has always been ‘justice and fairness’ and would not remain anywhere where reverse is the case.

“We have been known for our philosophy of fairness and justice, we are not enticed by elective positions but building legacies for a better tomorrow”.

Senator Ibrahim pledge full support to his new party and will work with all the PDP’s leaders to ensure their victory within the state and nation at large.

The National Chairman of PDP, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu in his remarks said, Kano has always been a home of PDP, and people like Shekarau are very important.

“Shekarau was in PDP some years back before he left, he has come back home and we believe with him, the part has gained more grounds in the state.

Senator Ibrahim Shekarau is a selfless leader who has chosen to let go of his Senatorial seat to join PDP for the good of the nation.

We are glad to have him back and we hope the good people of the state will rally round him during the 2023 elections to ensure our victory at all level”, Ayu added.

The Presidential Candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar while receiving Shekarau and his followers described him as a man close to his people.

According to him, the overwhelming number of persons who came out to grace the occasion despite heavy rain recorded in the state is an indication that the party is the people’s choice.

“We have seen for ourselves that the person coming back to our party is a household name in the state.

With Shekarau we can see that our great party will even do more better in Kano.

We are happy to receive back amongst us and we hope to work together towards our success”, Atiku added.

The occasion was attended by PDP Big Wigs, serving governors, senators and former Vice President, Namadi Sambo.
