Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has appealed to Nigerians to remain calm following the growing anger over the scarcity of the newly redesigned Naira notes.
It was earlier reported that there was tension in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State where residents staged a protest over the expiration of the deadline date and rejection of old naira notes by commercial banks.

Elsewhere in Ibadan, Oyo State, residents blocked the Eleyele/ Eruwa road early Wednesday to protest the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN cashless policy.
Reacting, Shehu Sani appealed to aggrieved Nigerians to shun violence and focus on the coming elections, stressing that any spark may lead to a conflagration.
In a tweet on his verified handle, the former lawmaker said, “The general public must avoid any form of protest in the name of cash or fuel scarcity at this 11th hour. The people in the southeast must defy any call to sit at home.
“Any spark is intended to lead to a conflagration. Anti-democratic elements must be resisted. Let’s focus on d election”.
