She is ‘Madam Due Process – Obasanjo hails Ezekwesili on her 60th birthday

Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has congratulated former Minister of Education and former World Bank Vice President (Africa), Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili, on her 60th birthday.

In a statement on Friday, Obasanjo disclosed that before her appointment as Minister, Ezekwesili worked with him in the Price Intelligence Unit, domiciled at the Villa, later called Due Process Unit.

According to the ex-president, Ezekwesili earned her name as ‘Madam Due Process because of her diligence at work.

“Before I appointed Oby a minister, I assigned her to work closely with me in what we called the Price Intelligence Unit, domiciled at the Villa, which she headed. It later became the Due Process office, which earned her the nickname ‘Madam Due Process’. The idea was to cut down on waste and bring transparency and accountability into the award of contracts, which she did excellently.”

Ezekwesili, born on April 28, 1963, marked her 60th birthday in an elaborate event attended by many Nigerian dignitaries.
