Senator Ali Ndume has advised President Bola Tinubu to talk to Nigerians mostly youths, to ease tensions and prevent the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1st.
Ndume, who represents Borno South made the comments on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
His opinion aligns with that of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) which had earlier called on President Tinubu to engage with the protest leaders.
The NLC urged Tinubu to invite the leaders and listen to their grievances.
In a statement, NLC President Joe Ajaero stressed that dismissing citizens’ struggles as “sponsored political dissent” is condescending. According to him, citizens have the right to protest and demand a listening ear and an empathetic heart from the government.
