Senate seeks additional ₦30bn for INEC to conduct 2027 election

‎The Nigerian Senate has made a fresh move to increase the budget of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 general elections in the country.


‎It was gathered that the upper chamber is currently seeking an additional ₦30 billion for INEC to conduct the 2027 election.


‎The move was made by the Senate committee on electoral matters, which linked the planned increase to issues relating to logistics.


‎It would be recalled that INEC had initially proposed about ₦873 billion for the elections.
