Senate Grills Rivers State Administrator Ibas

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), appeared before the Senate on Wednesday to answer questions concerning the ₦1.48 trillion budget currently being implemented in the state.

Ibas, who was appointed following the declaration of emergency rule in Rivers State, was accompanied by key officials, including members of the state’s economic team.

They will be facing the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Emergency Rule, which is tasked with oversight of the interim administration.

President Bola Tinubu had declared emergency rule in the state on March 18, 2025, citing the breakdown of governance following a prolonged political crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor and political rival, Nyesom Wike.
