Senate confirms Yugudu as CBN deputy governor

‎The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Mahmoud Isa Yugudu as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.


‎The confirmation took place during plenary at the National Assembly complex in Abuja, following the presentation of a report by the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions.


‎Chairman of the committee, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, said the nominee demonstrated competence and experience during the screening exercise.


‎“We carefully screened the nominee and found him qualified for the position. He possesses the required experience and knowledge to function effectively as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria,” Abiru said.


‎The Senate thereafter adopted the committee’s recommendation and confirmed Yugudu through a voice vote.


‎President Bola Tinubu had earlier forwarded the nomination to the upper chamber for consideration and approval.
