Scores of APC Members Dump Party for PDP in Adavi, Back Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Second-Term Ambition

Scores of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including executives from Adavi West Ward, have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The deflectors all pledged their support for the second-term ambition of the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Natasha Hadiza Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Among the defectors were prominent APC officials from Adavi West, including the party’s Youth Leader, who formally announced their resignation from the ruling party alongside several members and supporters.

The defection ceremony, held on Monday, June 15, 2026, attracted party faithful, community leaders and supporters including the PDP House of Representatives for Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdulrahaman Badamasuiy, who gathered to welcome the new entrants into the PDP.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan described the mass movement into the PDP as a reflection of the growing confidence of the people in the party’s vision of inclusive leadership, development and effective representation.

“I warmly welcome our brothers and sisters who have chosen to join the Peoples Democratic Party today. Your decision reflects your belief in a better future for our people and your commitment to the progress of Kogi Central and Kogi State as a whole,” she said.

The lawmaker assured the new members that the PDP remains a platform founded on fairness, justice, equity and equal opportunities for all, irrespective of political background.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan urged the new members to remain peaceful, committed and focused on grassroots mobilisation, stressing that political success is anchored on unity, hard work and service to the people.

“The strength of every political party lies in its people. Let us remain united and committed to the ideals of good governance, democratic participation and community development. Together, we will continue to advance the interests of our people and create opportunities for future generations,” she stated.

“Our party is open to everyone who believes in genuine development, accountability and people-centred leadership. Together, we will continue to build a stronger and more united political movement that prioritises the welfare and aspirations of our people,” she added.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, the new members pledged loyalty to the PDP and expressed their readiness to work for the growth and success of the party.

They also assured Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan of their commitment to mobilising support for her re-election bid and strengthening the party’s grassroots presence across Adavi Local Government Area.

The latest defections are seen as a significant boost to the PDP’s growing influence in Adavi Local Government Area and across Kogi Central ahead of future political contests.
