Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has said his Supreme Court victory would prompt more development in the state.
The governor said this while speaking with State House Correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Friday, adding that the verdict was a wake-up call to all stakeholders.
“It’s really just to thank all of our citizens in Lagos for their support, irrespective of what party affiliation you are, and to call everyone to join us once again, on our greater Lagos journey.
“We are transforming the state, the city we are building, structures and institutions that will outlive us, and we’re putting in place a governance structure that will improve the economy,” he said.
According to him, already the political differences occasioned by the electoral exercises had been left behind for the greater interest of the entire state.
Also, the Progressive Governors Forum visited the President to solicit more support for states to further enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo, who led the delegation, said the forum also used the visit to commend the President on various initiatives taken so far to revive the economy.
“The President is doing those things to make Nigeria save more money, make the economy recover and be strengthened so that the masses will have a better standard of living.
“Security will be guaranteed and the welfare of citizens will also be guaranteed, which is the statutory function of government, the welfare and security of the people.
“We are his ambassadors; the Progressives Governors Forum is determined and also committed to supporting the president to ensure that he succeeds,” he added.
