Rivers sole administrator suspends Fabura’s appointees

The Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), has suspended all political appointees and office holders in the state, effective immediately.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Chief of Staff to the Administrator announced that the suspension was carried out under the authority granted to Ibas by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The directive which affects the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the Chief of Staff, all commissioners, and chairpersons, also include members of boards, agencies, commissions, and parastatals, as well as all Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants.

The statement further instructed the affected officials to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

According to the Chief of Staff to the Administrator, in cases where no Permanent Secretary is available, the most senior Director or Head of Administration is to take over.

This directive takes effect from Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
