Rights Activist wants kogi govt. to conduct independent investigation into Okene explosion

— Describes the development as worrisome, unfortunate, condemnable.

The Executive Director, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution, (CHRCR), in Kogi State, Comrade Idris Miliki, has called on the Kogi State Government to conduct an Independent Investigation into last Thursday Explosion in Okene, which claimed some lives.

He described the blast or Explosion that occurred in Okene, on the 29 December 2022, leading to loss of lives and destruction of property as worrisome unfortunate and condemnable.

The statement reads in part said “While we await the reports of various security agencies on the avoidable incident, we also sympathy with the families of the affected person.

According to him, that such act could take place when the president was officially visiting the state, makes it more worrisome.

“Again this development is frightening as we have less than 60 days to the 2023, general Elections in Nigeria.

“We call on security agencies to put all measures in place, to avoid such unfortunate and embarrassing circumstances in future.
