Presidency Reveals When Fuel Will Be Available, Speaks on New Price

The Presidency has assured Nigerians that the current fuel scarcity in the country will soon come to an end.

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, disclosed that the situation will normalize by the weekend.

Lokpobiri, who spoke on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, expressed deep concern over the hardship Nigerians are facing due to the fuel shortage.

He revealed that a meeting was held with Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday to address the issue and find a solution.

The minister said that there is sufficient fuel supply in the country, and products are expected to be available nationwide by the weekend. However, he noted that prices may vary in different regions due to the deregulated nature of the sector.

Lokpobiri’s statement reads in part: “There is no need for panic buying, as supply is adequate. Our primary message to Nigerians is that we are working hard to ensure that the situation normalizes quickly, and prices will stabilize as product availability improves.”

Nigerians have been facing a difficult time since Tuesday, September 3, when fuel prices suddenly skyrocketed from around ₦700 to ₦1,200.
