Potter suffers major injury blow as Chelsea prepare for Premier League return

Chelsea manager, Graham Potter has been handed another injury setback after Wesley Fofana limped off during their friendly game on Tuesday just days before the return of the Premier League.

Kai Havertz grabbed a hat-trick as the Blues thrashed Brentford 5-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

However, the result was overshadowed by Fofana hobbling off with a knee problem.

Fofana, who joined Chelsea for £70million from Leicester City in the summer, has not played since injuring his knee against AC Milan in October.

During the World Cup break, the defender stayed behind to rehabilitate and build up fitness ahead of the Premier League’s restart on December 26.

Earlier this month Chelsea were handed a major injury blow as Armando Broja tore his anterior cruciate ligament in a another friendly against Aston Villa and was ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

Chelsea’s first league fixtures after the restart will be at home against Bournemouth on December 27.
