The Nigeria Police Force has commended a female officer, Inspector Justina Rita Omogbai for her commitment and professionalism in the course of her traffic duties.
Omogbai, attached to the Traffic Unit of the Sabo Divisional Headquarters, Lagos State, has been receiving accolades on social media after photos of her tending to pupils at Sabo junction went viral.
As seen in the photos, she was ensuring that the pupils were properly dressed, an act which those who know her said she does daily. The officer also pays attention to schoolchildren anytime they need to cross the busy road.
Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi noted that the commendations by Nigerians portrayed the police in a good light.
“Her gesture aligns with the Community Policing tenets and the concept of Catching Them Young,” Adejobi said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Formative age is vital to training children to be law-abiding and compliant with regulations. Her singular action brings to their memories the standard practice of Police Traffic Officers,” he said, noting that the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has charged personnel to emulate Justina Omogbai and “be shining examples in their respective jurisdictions.”
