Police launch manhunt for fleeing cattle rustlers in Jigawa

The Nigeria Police Force has said it has launched a manhunt for suspected cattle rustlers in Jigawa State.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Effiom Emmanuel Ekot, stated this in a statement signed by the command’s public relations officer DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam.

He said this followed a report that last Wednesday at about 0300hrs, hoodlums trespassed into the house of one Sale Rabiu of Garin Bukar village, Kaugama LGA, and stole his bull valued at N700,000.

Shiisu said a team of policemen from Kaugama Divisional Headquarters raided the house of one Dan Jumai Alasan of Musaram Kanawa village, Kaugama LGA, suspected to be behind it.

He said three cows, 16 sheep, 13 goats, two motor vehicles, and spare parts strongly suspected to be stolen were recovered in the house.

He said one person was arrested, and effort is in place to arrest the fleeing suspects.

The CP assured the public of the command’s readiness to ensure the safety and security of law-abiding citizens and urged them to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station for prompt action.
