Police handed me over to thugs in Owerri – NLC president, Ajaero alleges

President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero on Friday clarified that he is not a member of any political party.

Ajaero made the remark while addressing journalists in Abuja. He also recounted his ordeal in Owerri, Imo State capital.

The NLC President also disclosed that he was arrested in Owerri by the Police and was handed over to waiting thugs.

Recounting how he was thoroughly beaten, Ajaero said the thugs who were about seven in number dragged him on the floor like a common criminal.

According to Ajaero: “I can’t explain the beating I received. They tied my hands and dragged me on the floor like a common criminal.

“I am not a card-carrying member of any political party as alleged,” he said.

On November 1, some thugs disrupted the protest of organized Labour in Owerri, Imo State.

In a bid to ensure sanity, the police had stormed the venue of the protest and whisked Ajaero away but NLC had claimed he was arrested.
