Police: FG distributed over 17,350 bulletproof vests, helmets

The Federal Government has handed over 17,350 bulletproof vests and ballistics helmets to the Inspector General of Police Usman Baba.

Also donated were 4,400 safety boxes/first aids to enhance the operation of the Force.

Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammad Dingyadi made the presentation at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The purchase of the items is contained in the ministry’s 2022 capital budget.

Dingyadi said the provision will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the leading internal security agency.

“It reinforces this administration’s focus on equipping police with necessary gadgets that will protect and instill confidence in its personnel to tackle criminalities”, he noted.

The minister commended the Force for dislodging criminals, noting that their efforts necessitated the need to provide protective gadgets.

He said it underscores the Buhari’s administration’s commitment to policing through enhanced welfare arrangement, infrastructure, capacity building, enhanced salaries and reforms.

Dingyadi urged officers and men to continue to put in their best in discharging their duties to the nation.

In his remarks, Baba thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Assembly, and the Ministry for assisting the force with the operational tools.
